F-5 cricket...our version of modern cricket..

In our college, one day evening, infront of 'B-block' of Men's hostel was born the most modern version of cricket, the F-5 cricket. It is a miniature version of today's T-20 cricket. In order to make that possible we reduced not only the number of overs but a lot of other things.

Description

1.Its five overs per side obviously.

2.one person can bowl a maximum of 2 overs and others only one.

3.There is no leg side in this cricket!!!!!

4.no sixes,no running.
mode of run scoring
please look at the figure and know the locations of alphabets.

A.means,if we hit the ball beyond a boundary in the leg side in air you will be out.

B.If you hit the ball staright along the ground you get 4 runs,if you hit six ,you are out.

C.if you hit the ball along the ground to the wall you will get a single and if it hits the wall on the full you are out.

D.if you hit the ball in the direction of bike along the ground and strikes the wall adjacent to the bike you can get 4 runs and if you hit six you are out.

Stars of this form of game at present (stars because nobody other than us play..:))

1.myself....specialist of carrom ball....:)..(veruthe oru aashvasathinu)

2.Anoop M k....tactical bowling...and powerful stroke play...( chumma..avane onnu sugippikkan)

3.Sumeshraj...off spin and legspin with bending of elbow more than that is allowed by ICC..(in short, kai madakki)

4Sreerag M S ....even though pitch is less than 12 yards he has a run up of 22 yards and an 'effective' pace bowler

5.Anoop N....90 degree turning leg spin..very difficult..not for the batsmen but 4 the fielders (to pick the ball from the boundary)

6.Roshan Sam Alex..also a leg spinner...a new comer on observation..if he is playing well he has to be send back away from us...we should not spoil his future

7.Sooraj....noted by his unorthodox way of playing shots...can make the feeling that we are playing some game other than cricket

8.Madhu...also a leg spinner...turns only once in 14 days and when it turns and it is hit away for 4 runs..sorry madhu..I have to write the truth ..

9.Sujeesh...He is an International player..doesnt like playing this form..dont have too much matches under his belt

10.Stallon...he likes bowling bouncers..ie the one which bounces off the pitch to a good 'hieght'.

11.Sibin....he is the opening batsman of the team he playes..he plays like sehwag i e scores boundaries only and doesnt mind hitting singles.

12.vineet(Andu)-Another international player.. captain of our class team....but he is the leading scorer of ducks among us...he is struggling in this form of the game

13.Umesh-a 'technically correct 'batsman...but he doesnt like troubling the scorers..but when he bowls he does trouble them..perhaps the slowest bowler in our class.

14.Bejoy..a powerful hitter and he finds time to play with us from his jobs an NBA player and a coach of women team

15.Gopalan(vineeth)..he is a mendis type bowler..batsman having no clue whatsoever

In that picture above you can see a large number of windows..please dont think that thay have glasses!!!

Through F-5 cricket we are envisioning a Glassless world...

Change...the Inevitability of time..

Darwin has told us many things about the evolution and existence of human beings.Out of which the one has contemporary significance is his necessary condition for the survival of human beings. He said about the survival of the fittest.i.e Only those people can survive who are fit enough to adapt to the environment.

Deliberately taking him out of context,if we take his statement into consideration in this globalised world, some section-unfortunately a good %-may be asking for some amendments in Darwin's statement.

Change is the Inevitability of time and sometimes it wont happen automatically. If we travel down the history of world,we see that there has always been subject for reforms.Renaissance, abolition of unhealthy practices such as sathi, untouchability,Freedom movement in all colonised parts of the world etc.Through that movements Great leaders emerged.

In this cyber world,we have many leaders and not even .2008% of them are capable enough to bring about any reforms. Today the problem that needs the greatest attention is the rich-poor divide.India is achieving 9% growth every year. But a significant % of our people are living under poverty.

Indian Billionaires are holding 22% of India's GDP in 2008 which was only 0.92% in 1996.This clearly depicts that poor are not getting the fruits of development. Concerned Authorities are brushing aside facts and figures saying that "Only the Fittest will survive."

It is this situation that demands for an amendment in Darwin's statement. I think he has told it many many years back and its high time that we should use his statement to derive principles of governance that can help all people get the fruits of development.

"Revival of weakest" should be our principle of governance in this Globalised 21st century.

RADIO.....why are you like this?

It happened some years back. There was an old radio in the corner of my room. One day accidently found that It is looking at me!!!!.I just confirmed it by looking it again.Yeah, its looking at me.It was day time and there was someone in the room and i choose not to speak to it then.At night,I went to it and asked "do you know me?".It was still staring at me.(pls dont think that I am abnormal. There is proof that I am normal that I didnt speak infront of any person.I write here because I may forget it later.):).
coming back, radio was still staring at me and replied nothing. It gave an expression that it knows me.I decided to make it speak somehow.I decided to buy a battery next day.
Next day I bought a battery and didnt tell anyone about it.At night I took the radio and put the battery in it..[not only battery, but some repair work with external help] yes!!!its speaking.I just started hearing whatever it say and when I wanted to say something I switched it off and told.
We didnt speak in the daytime.I chose to speak in the night without making others know about it.Thus we became good friends atleast for me.
It didnt tell anything which I wanted to know.ie something which someone shares with a true friend. But I shared all with it.It didnt comfort me or support me in my sorrows but I felt I had a more light weighted heart after speaking to it.But it was speaking to me something.its voice was enough for me to forget my sorrows.
On day time,it was looking at me.I just chose not to speak because of 'other people considerations'.
one day when I was looking at it I heard a voice from behind "why are you looking at it,it wont work for you?'
My mother said.I just looked at her with a 'why?' expression.May be knowing that she continued jokingly"its older than[ even ]you".I wished to say loudly "it worked".I didnt tell because I was not sure whether it was working for me.

During my initial days of friendship with it some 'aakrikachavadakkaran came' and they all decided to sell it.But I resisted with such an intensity that made others not to sell it and making them know about my affection to it.I dont know why I resisted like that, may be it has become a part of my routine.
Even after years I use to speak to the radio and hear from it.But still we are not friends ...."It is my friend and I am not its friend"

Benefits of playing as a team...

Indian cricket has improved a lot over the last three years.
Before that Indian cricket was all about Sachin Tendulkar.
Of course,he is Great. He is the most famous Indian Internationally. But remembering all these and considering the fact that cricket is a team Game, should this much individual attention needed?
Every one knows that an Individual cannot win a game for his team himself.
India is considering sachin as a god and expecting too much from him.
This will add pressure on him and demoralise other players.
This was the reason why India was failing when sachin got out early.
But with the arrival of players like dhoni, team play got the deserved attention and has improved to such an extend that we won the twenty-20 world cup.
With all respect for Tendulkar I should say that he was playing for records, not only him.
When he reached 90 he was always going slowly despite team's need.
Comparing India and Australia for two batsmen
Indian-100,5,7,8,9,2,2,100,4,9...
he cements his place with those two hundreds and team looses on all other occasions.
Australian-67,75,89,64,43,4,5.
its full stop for him after that 4 and 5 and a good player comes in and they are under so much pressure to perform.
Thats why sachin holds many records, and Australians not.
But with the arrival of DHONI as captain, there has been change in the right direction.

Old stalwarts have been thrown away .
One thing to be noted that there is not much centuries now,but the team is winning.Even sachin is not scoring centuries but contributing.
As Dhoni said.."Its not the centuries that are needed, but an Innings that can make a difference."
Indian cricket TEAM is safe under his head.

Avoidable......but why not?

Is Stagnation an Art?
Art is something which is to be performed.
It needs an artist or groups of artists.
It needs an audience, and most importantly
It needs a stage, which may not be physical.
What the audience gets out of this?...may be some satisfaction in his leisure time.
Lot of books tell about art ,but hardly anything which looks it from an audience perspective.
So lets look it from an audience perspective
1.He may come and watch it with interest
2.He may come and may loose interest after watching it.
3.He may not come, because he may not be interested.
4.He may be compelled to come in,after seeing it,he become interested.
Last group is the rarest,I am sure you will agree only to differ later in this post.By compulsion I mean he may be tempted to come from his important duties. His absence may cost him dearly. But he is tempted to go.But after watching the art he is so fascinated that makes him forget his duties.
Obviously this Idleness is art dependent and also artist dependent.
And artists are the one who does the compulsion.
You may wonder which is this art?
I am sure you need not think too much and it is BANDH and locally known as Hartal in kerala.
Artists are the politicians who are so skilled in this art and are creating the audience who are the ordinary people like us.
we as an audience belong to the fourth group and we are enjoying holidays forgetting about the duties .
Unfortunately this art is being staged so frequently in the stage,ie our country.
It is the only art that has the destructive effect and It needs to be avoided and it is
Avoidable.....but why not?

THAT MISSED LINE.....

I got adjusted to the class.I began seeing the "seniors".I came to know that there was no ragging in the college.I was sad to hear this.I had decided to use ragging to shed my inhibition. But all hopes eroded away.Intentionally or unintentionally I decided to rag seniors.Infact it was unintentionally. All those compressed energy in the strict atmosphere of school life was coming out.seniors started coming to our class.I was called by a group of seniors. They asked my name and I told them.I asked them their name.I was not supposed to ask them back.So they didnt answer even after my repeated questions. At last somebody told"AnnveshichO".Almost instantaneosly i asked 'O' INITIAL AANO?.That was enough for them to start ragging us.That news spread like Wild fire. All of the seniors arrived our class and their leader delivered an angry speech, luckily for me,not mentioning my name.I just sat in my seat hearing all with an expression 'njan onnum arinjille ramanarayana".
Thereafter I was under the close watch of the seniors. Then the "freshers day" came.As expected I was called, but a little earlier than expected. They told me to sing, dance etc.I sluggishly responded with not so convincing excuses. At last I agreed to sing the national anthem holding the mike and in attention. No human with two hands can do it.After seeing my struggle they removed the restrictions.I started singing.Actually I wanted to finish it somehow. In that process I missed a line. That was enough for them for the revenge.
Next day onwards, seniors of all batch started recognising me with the words "The boy who missed THAT LINE'"

First attraction of my college life

I was in the train travelling back to kottayam. Its not for the first time that I am travelling from thrissur to kottayam. But this one is special. I am alone.Train is crowded.I was always alone in the crowd.I am sitting at the door. These are all usual things. But what makes it special? This is special because I am coming back completing my 4 years of B-tech.At the door there was strong breeze."its going to rain"I thought. It was the monsoon month of july. There was not any rain that day. Then why the breeze came?May be to wipe my tears. That answer actually disheartened me.I dont like others knowing about my bitter emotions, even if it is a liveless breeze.May be a bit selfish, but I wish to enjoy it myself. Now its past Ernakulam and its single line and its stopped for the passing of another train. That was a sudden halt,an unexpected one.My thoughts went back in the opposite direction to thrissur.i.e it continued moving in the opposite direction, may be the law of inertia is not the same as physical things.

Me at thrissur, though not physically.I am now that timid plus two student who is coming there for the first time .Into the college through the main gate at 7.45am.Then I saw it...the first thing attraction of my college life ...and here it is..

This is the thing which catches our attention the moment we enter the college..and has created a feeling in my heart which is not expressible by the questions why? and how?
Next will be a series of posts about my college life...as I miss it a lot these days..
What was your first attraction at the college?

INDEPENDENCE DAY..

Its our 61st independence day.Olympic gold is making us proud in this independence day celebrations. But this only a single shade of hope amid a lot of disasters.Currently the one which is of most concern is the problem in the Jammu-Kashmir.Vote-Bank politics has created this problem, that everyone know.Even during the most horrible terrorist attack there has been no communal divide in Jammu-Kashmir.But the politicians have beeen able to create it with in a single week.

So in this Independence day,we have to say the greatest problem confronting is none other than DEMOCRACY which is creating this politicians. We have seen its lowest levels during the confidence motion in lok sabha.

We have been seeing a lot of strikes in these days of independent India. But the purpose of the strikes is the cause of concern.sometimes even with no purpose.Gujjar community is trying to get the SC status. How can such a community which is forward enough to protest like that claim to be backward?Resevations started in 1950's and it makes little sense by saying that all castes are not uplifted even after 58 years of reservation. The truth is that people who have got the benefits once keeps on getting reservations and the deserved economically backward are left out.

So politicians ,if you can't stop raising your voice and calling strikes then do it for this people

DOWN THE MEMORY LANE.....

when I was in the third standard,we were having a small scale cleaning session. All students were outside cleaning the courtyard.Teacher was not there. We started throwing everything that we saw over there out of the compound. That included plastic carriers, stones etc.Somebody didnt get the required elevation and a stone struck on my face right beside my eye and the blood started flowing down.It was not very painful though.Boys and Girls started crying seeing it and teacher came and took me for washing.I had seen movies then with heroes after a fight going like that and impressing heroines. Then I walked stylishly to the tap looking all the girls thinking that they will be impressed.
After cleaning, teacher took me to the hospital in the school jeep even though it was not much serious.Nurses dressed it and then gave me some toffees.I thankfully remembered the person who threw the stone. But the happiness did not last long.I saw the nurse taking a syringe and filling it with something.I smelled the danger and jumped out of the bed and ran away.My teacher was outside this room and she couldnt understand what was happening.I ran past her aiming our jeep and reached where it was parked.By then the driver came there upon the instruction from the teacher and he chased me for one round trip around the jeep and I got into the jeep somehow.I succeeded that day in avoiding the Injection.By the time we arrived back at the school my mother was there to take me home because it was the last period of the day.Teacher told her to take the injection within one or two days describing all the events.
So I couldn't escape from the injection anyway.

A Simple Fact about life

GOOD DAYS WILL PROVIDE YOU JOY AND IS EASILY FORGOT

BAD DAYS WILL GIVE YOU EXPERIENCE

ABHINAV.......

Abhinav wins the gold medal for India in Beijing.India wins an olympic gold medal after 28 years.India got gold medal in hockey last time.Ironically this is the first time Indian hockey team is not in the Olympics. This is the first time India is winning gold medal in an Individual item.
His achievement will defnitely provide inspiration to saina, who moved into the quarter finals of badminton and anoop sreedhar who is in the second round of badminton. After a dull start,Indians have got something which they can be proud of even for the years to come.
As abhinav said..Just Believe in them,,they will deliver
possibly a message to milkha sigh who told there is no hope for even a single medal in BEIJING

These are my foot steps into classical music.I love music very much.I have an intense desire to study classical music. After two days of play and pause I was able to study these swara's in the anupallavi and charanam of the keerthanam 'swaminatha paripalaya'.I by hearted it cleanly now and able to sing it as it is.
Now the vacation is not boring at all.I started enjoying it and I have a time table from tomorrow onwards and it has nothing which disturbs others ,not even an unsolicited missed call.

Touching Lines....

"Pularkala sunthara swapnathil njanoru poombatayayi innu mari

Manilum vinnilum poovilum pullilum swarna chirakumayi pari

neerada shyamala neela nabhasoru charu sarovaramayi

chandranum pookalum thara ganangalum indivarangalayi mari"

This is the lyrics which i like the most which together with the immortal music makes it my all time favourite

ONE WORLD ONE DREAM.

For 17 days world is going to be under one roof.Everybody is listening to the same spot.Asia is going to be under the lime light.China, from scratch,is now occupying a bright spot in the world's map.8 is a lucky number for the Chinese people. This year's Olympics is beginning on 888 at 8:8:8.Opening ceremony is going to be a portrayal of rich Chinese culture and traditions. All roads lead to Beijing.
For me there is another friend coming to my life for 17 days.I had been alone for some days now after the confidence motion in loksabha. My new friend will be the special correspondent for reporting olympics from manorama. He will tell me about his chinese experiences and the people there. He is a friend for me just because he doesn't know me.Just because of my glittering personality anybody who knows me will not accept me as a friend.
Anyway..hats off to the organisers of such a nice event ...

WORLD'S MOST EXPENSIVE SAREE

SUPERB COMMENTS

Love him or hate him, he sure hits the nail on the head with this! Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.
Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it!

Rule 2 : The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.

Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.

Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.

Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one

GREAT or GREATEST

This is called Mother's Love!
simple,yet powerful
IF GOD IS GREAT,
MOTHER IS THE GREATEST

Nothing....just a simple puzzle

she is 100% sure that I like her ,that is not 100% right.
I am not 100% sure that she doesn't like me,that is 100% right.
then, who likes whom?
This is a simple puzzle with simple answer..but I pretend to myself that this is a complex one with an even complex answer..may be it will be the inevitability of my age.I feel I am accepting that with both hands .

AUGUST.......Do you remember?

I read about the girl sadakko, some time ago.she wanted to scale the heights. She was practicing to become a world class athlete.sure, she had the potential.Yet what was her fate? One day she fell down.she was infected with blood cancer,at the age of 12.When another AUGUST comes she comes into memory.she was the victim of HIROSHIMA atom bomb blast.she was only 2 at the time of incident.Radiations penetrated into her body and remained there and she became an indirect victim after 10 years. In japan there is a belief that,if you can make 1000 paper goose you can escape from death.Sadakko started making, because she loved life so much. She could make only 644 .
In Japan there is a statue of sadakko holding a golden goose.Below that is written
"This is our cry
This is our prayer
Peace in the World"
In this period of arms race and all ,days like aug 6 and aug 9 should be taken as occasions to remember girls like sadakko. That will provide the much needed inputs to make the draconian rulers hear the cry and prayers of their fellow beings.

Friendship

I am not a person who classify the relationships in my life.I love one and all in the same way. When I am talking to my parents they are my friends. When I am talking to my sister, she is my friend.Of course, with the obvious limits. But it takes some time.If i can talk continously to a person for 10 minutes I can clearly understand him and i will be in a position to believe him or not.If he is good,I will be open to him.So I don't classify relations into parental, acquaintances, friends, best friends etc.If a threshold is crossed,I treat all as same.
During the last four years there have been lot of people crossing the threshold.I feel really lucky about it.But I feel I couldn't cross the threshold of those people. That's my fault I guess.I will try to correct the mistake and make duplex relationships instead of simplex ones as of now.
HAPPY FRIENDSHIPDAY for the simplex friends and for the finger countable duplex ones..........

Importance of attitude

In chemistry we study that two reactants combine to form a product.Time for the reaction varies depending on the reactants. But if we add a catalyst,we can speed up the reaction and can obtain better results. Some catalysts can accelerate and some can decelerate the reaction.By an analogy, reactants for our life are the talents that we have. Our success in life depends on identifying the reactants and choosing the catalyst. In other way,we should identify our talents and should have an attitude to nurture that talents in a proper way.So niether ABILITIES nor ATTITUDES can alone give you success but both together will give you success.Every person is able in his own way.If your abililty is not sharp enough, your attitude needs to be sharper.

EVENING PARK

Yea ,you should come here with a mindset when you are going to a park in a holiday evening.I will always be there in the park for you to share your joy and the grievances. You come here relaxed-and not sure how many can-but all will go away with no tension and disappointments.Life is short and we should enjoy it and here is the platform to achieve that task.
