Whatever the contexts be,these are two statements in recent times that will no longer be enjoyed by the minorities in our secular country.
Two threats are hidden behind these statements, that of communalism and parochialism. Both are detrimental to the Interests of a secular and egalitarian state.

The fact that even eminent personaities are feeling the heat of all these is disheartening to know.

Also the recent events in J@K and orissa throws light to the fact that there are concerted efforts going on to polarise our country on communal lines.

Parochialism is something which is unique to maharashtra it seems. The major party there,Shiv sena, will even look beyond the coalition whip to vote for the president candidate from maharashtra,Prathibha Patil.

If this trend spread to other states also, then the religious and regional minorities will be under threat for sure.
